Summer Sendoff
As the school year wraps up, reflecting on the incredible journey our students embarked on is exciting. We packed in 21 Saturday sessions, starting at Yes Prep before finding our home at the Houston Food Bank. Witnessing the dedication of our students was truly inspiring. Mornings were filled with focused learning under the guidance of Meghan and Emy, while afternoons buzzed with mentorship and engaging programming. A special shoutout to the Saturday Programs team for organizing fantastic sessions on time management, goal-setting, and career exploration. Our incredible volunteers went above and beyond, collectively dedicating over 1,500 hours of service!
But the real stars of the year were our graduating seniors. Their three-year commitment culminated in their capstone presentations, a testament to their resilience and growth. Watching them blossom into confident young women on their way to Whitman College, College of Saint Benedict, and Texas A&M University fills us with immense pride.
Now, as the summer sun beckons, our focus shifts. Our juniors and sophomores have excitedly navigated summer program applications and selections and are now gearing up for travel. For some, this may be their first time exploring a new state, boarding a plane, or even venturing overseas, a chance to build independence and forge lifelong memories.
This summer, our sophomores are setting their sights on prestigious universities like Yale, Tufts, Duke, UCLA, and Boston University. Our juniors are embarking on international journeys to Rome and Tokyo. We wish them safe travels and an unforgettable summer filled with learning and growth. We can't wait to hear all about their adventures when they return in the fall! Their stories will surely inspire the entire Minds Matter Houston community.
