Reports to: Volunteers Director

Team: Extended Leadership Team (XLT)

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week

Summary & Responsibilities

The Training Lead will support the ongoing development and success of Minds Matter Houston volunteers by designing and delivering impactful training experiences. This role ensures that new and returning volunteers are equipped with the tools, context, and confidence they need to effectively support our students.

The Training Lead will play a key role in shaping the volunteer journey by coordinating onboarding, developing training materials, and gathering feedback to continuously improve learning and engagement across the volunteer base. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate volunteer onboarding sessions

  • Develop and maintain training resources (e.g., slide decks, volunteer handbooks, videos, role-specific guides)

  • Partner with other XLT members and Directors to tailor training content to specific volunteer roles and challenges

  • Collect feedback from volunteers and stakeholders to improve training sessions over time

  • Maintain a centralized library of training materials and track attendance and completion of training sessions

You’ll Be a Good Fit If You:

  • Have experience in training, teaching, instructional design, or facilitation—especially in volunteer or nonprofit settings

  • Are confident leading workshops, public speaking, and making information digestible and engaging for diverse audiences

  • Want to volunteer with a mission-drive organization making an impact in the lives of Houston-area high school students

  • Are prepared to take on a volunteer leadership role on a growing team

  • Have great organizational and time management skills
